Guy Fawkes Day

On November 5, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators planned to blow up King James I and Parliament. The Gunpowder Plot was foiled, and to this day the English still celebrate with fireworks and bonfires. Official parties are usually held the Saturday closest to the 5th, so Chris witnessed the Woking fireworks, while the rest of us passed by various celebrations on the train ride home from Dover. Unofficial parties continued all weekend, and it has been a rather noisy evening around here, given that today is actually the 5th. I wonder when the festivities will finally end?

hey guys,

it sounds like things are pretty cool over there. i think it would be fantastic if we had such a random holdiay here in the states, and that we got off school for it. i've been having several umbc exams, and i'm stressing about what i should register for next semester, although hopefully the advisor i'm supposed to talk to will clear things up.

i don't know if my mom told you, but i was in a car accident recently (yes, another one!!! but this one was on tally ho road at night in the rain coming home from umbc). fortunately, no one was hurt, as it didn't even involve another car... just me and a fire hydrant. X.x the van now has orange paint on the front license plate to match the scrape marks from an accident my mom was in. it had to be towed out of a ditch and the cops came and made sure i was sober and the fire dept. came and it was scary!!! =( but the van is okay, and i'm okay, and no one has fixed the fire hydrant. i hope no one's house burns down anytime soon.

anyway, i hope y'all enjoy your remaining time in london. i'm looking forward to your return.

peace, jenny

and uhh ps: could you have chris shoot me an email when he gets a chance? i wanted to tell him about the accident. -_-
